On 8 January 2009 La Poste introduced the possibility of buying computer vended postage on-line, for printing on labels or directly onto envelopes or cards. With the introduction of the Montimbrenligne ["Mystamponline"], anyone with a computer and a printer could download postage "on the go" and send their postal items from any post office or mailbox. While the postage value lies in the matrix and codes, La Poste offers the possibility to choose a graphic to the label, to make it more stamp-like. For individual users, the graphic must be chosen from a bank of designs offered by La Poste, whereas professional users can apply to use their own designs or logos. Allready from the start, several cat designs were available.
Postal items franked with French CVPs are postmarked as ordinary stamps. Mixed franking with PCVs and other means of franking is permitted.
The CVPs are sold in almost all denominations applicable to the intended service at any time. When postage rates are ajusted, denominations for the difference between old and new rates are also available.
Montimbrenligne have been offered in several sizes. All color designs can also be found in black and white, depending on the printer used. From the start, the validity has been limited to a date printed on the CVP ("Valable jusqu'au:"). At first it was set for 60 days, but this was altered to 10 months (?) from ???. Unlimited validity was introduced with the introduction of new types in 2015.
Over the years, several changes has been made to the code part of the CVP, and graphics has been added or removed. The following list of possible cat-designs has been made based on reported variaties and designs, and is in no way comple. If you have other examples of types (with any design), or unlisted cat designs, please let us know.
